Giddy for the bed

N and I have made the decision to go with a memory foam bed.  :>)

I'm excited for the change, but there's quite a bit of preparation to take care of before we make the switch.  Our hard side waterbed needs to be converted into a platform bed--screwed down onto the top of our base of 12 drawers (6 on each side).  N will make a new wider, free standing, headboard to go with the width of the bed.  Then, finally, we'll purchase the sheets and possibly a heated mattress pad.  One of the things we love about the waterbed is how it's never (unless a cat unplugs the heater) cold to climb into.

We're not sure how we'll solve the sleeping arrangements during the days without a mattress (it's our understanding memory foam is supposed to be left to expand and gas out for 72 hours).  I assume we'll be sleeping in the guest room with the treadmill.  Guess I can do without my early morning exercise for a day or 4.

We upgrade to the Sleep Number about 2 years ago and it was so worth it. We ended up sleeping in our guest room because of the timing of moving out the old mattress and getting the new. I would recommend waiting on the mattress heater thing until you give it a try. Our bed actually gets quite warm and a heater would kill us. You might find you don't need it!

Enjoy! It's amazing how much better I sleep now. And, oh by the way, my Sleep Number is 45. :)

It's good to find a bed that's comfortable. :>)
How long did it take for you to find out what your sleep number was?

I don't think you'll need a heater either...I also like the foam because the sheets don't move around...they stay nice and smooth...it's SO nice to climb into each night.

We have the fleecey sheets and love them...their good summer and winter...have you tried them?

Well, it's still a work in progress, actually. My sleep number was 65 for a long while and I recently started changing it and am down to 45. It depends on how soft I want it. It's like a new bed every night. :)

Sis, No fleece sheets for me--at least not until I quit this extreme radiator routine. :>P

Amber, Must be nice to play around with the setting on the bed.
