I've been on a mission ever since we've lived here to keep the ivy and vinca from taking over our back fence. Two years ago, I decided to add ranunculus repens (creeping buttercup) to that list. Probably had to do with our new relatives visiting our house and wanting it to look as good as possible.
It's a good feeling making progress - at least I feel like I've made a dent in the buttercup. Not so much with the ivy or vinca.
