Today a parent called me into the back room to explain (she tried anyway) why her wee ones might be displaying different from normal behavior. She began to cry and I knew immediately what the cause was. It breaks my heart whenever parents have serious relationship problems.
We've already had one family break apart this school year. Is it the economy? Is it the changing roles with children beginning school? Whatever it is, I wish it would stop.
My simplistic thought? Shake both of the parents and then tell them in my sternest school voice, "take a good hard look at those little faces and dig in and work at this relationship! try harder, dammit!"
