"NO NEW TAXES"

   Recently, I ran across a post promoting a meet and greet for a local candidate headlined with the title of this post. A wealthy supporter had opened up their palatial home for this event-- which reminds me .... why is it always the wealthy who constantly carp and complain about taxes? And put millions of dollars into the campaigns to elect the candidates they desire?  Do they think their gated communities, with private security will be enough to keep them safe and cozy from the rest of the world? While the rest of us (who don't understand that fewer taxes mean less ability for government to govern and provide services) wonder why the police don't patrol enough, why no one is fixing all the potholes, etc. And all the crap about how much money is wasted on lazy employees, "there's too much waste", when the reality is that government is comprised of normal citizens. Citizens who sometimes do wasteful things -- much like the rest of the humans on this planet.
